GIDDEON
< Gatsby x TB >
BWP
PREMIUM COLT

Above photos taken May 2007

Giddeon not only displays
the fluid, elastic movement of his sire, but he also inherited Gatsby’s
wonderful personality. He is
extremely light on his feet and incredibly balanced in all three gaits.
His conformation is correct and refined, and as far as his looks are
concerned, you could describe him as “elegant.”

As for his character, he
loves people, is bold and curious, and just seems to show up as if to say,
“hey, everybody, what’s up?” He
was the life of the party at his BWP inspection and had everybody laughing.
It would be hard to imagine what more you could want in a sporthorse
prospect.

GALEN
< Gatsby x Oldenburg >
RhPSI
SILVER PREMIUM FOAL

It
was Gatsby’s claim to produce calm, trainable offspring suitable for
armature riders that led me to breed my mare to him. She was my first
attempt to breed a riding partner for myself to do dressage, some light
jumping, and to be able to enjoy some trail riding. Although she is a lovely
mare, her temperament has created quite a challenge in the training
department, making her a little more horse than I wanted to handle. In
breeding to Gatsby, I had hopes to produce a horse more suitable for my
needs. The resulting colt was born 3/11/06 and he is everything I had hoped
for. His name is Galen, which means "The Calm One." He is always a
complete gentleman when being handled, he can be running and fighting with
his pasture buddy, but when you bring out the halter, he whinnies and runs
to the gate to come out. He always respects your space and has never
attempted to bite, kick or rear around people. He learns very quickly and is
always curious to try new things. As far as his movement, he has a fantastic
canter and is always jumping the water trough and anything else he
encounters with great balance and little effort. His trot has a lot of
suspension and is very fluid even though he seems to be putting out little
effort. Occasionally
something gets him a bit excited and we just go “Wow!” He is turning out
to be everything I had hoped for - fancy enough for the show ring yet calm
enough to be my best friend.

G RYPHON

| UPDATE: MAY 2008
Gryphon's new owner
is dressage trainer, Sabine Ense and her barn is Lone Pine Stable in
Grants
Pass.
She is originally from
Germany
and her family is in the horse business. Last summer I started taking
lessons with Sabine on Gryphon's dam. She really likes my mare and knew
that I had a Gatsby colt out of her. She is very impressed with Gryphon's
type, his development for his age, and his correct & rhythmic movement.
She thought overall he was a very high quality foal. She also got
approval from her father (she emailed photos to him) and she said her father
doesn't give praise out unless warranted.

Just
wanted to drop you a quick note and send some photos of my 2006 Gatsby
colt. Congratulations on Gatsby passing the stallion testing. What
a wonderful and remarkable achievement! The website looks phenomenal. Gryphon
is a wonderful colt and although my original plans had been to sell him I have
grown so attached to his fantastic temperament and personality not tot mention
incredible athletic aptitude that my plans have changed. I think you have got
a wonderful stallion that passes on some great qualities!
Hope you enjoy a wonderful Christmas and wishing you peace and joy in the
New Year!

GUINNESS
aka Genuine
< Gatsby x Paint/TB mare >
|
| UPDATE:
September 2011 Guinness
(formerly Genuine) had dropped off our radar for a couple of
years. He had been sold and the new owner had some difficulties
and he sort of disappeared. This July a past breeding client
called us and said, "Ya know that Gatsby baby I tried to breed
for a few years ago but my mare never got pregnant... well I think I
just bought one, but I'm not sure?" After some
investigation, sure enough, our client had bought Genuine. Since
they didn't know who he was they were calling him
"Gus." When we discovered that it was Genuine and that
his birthday was on March 17, 2006, St. Patrick's Day, they decided to
change his name to Guinness. Mother and daughter have both fallen in
love with Guinness and in just a few short weeks he is up to weight
and jumping over 3 feet at the New York State Fair! Here is what
his new owners had to say:
Guinness has never been to a
horse show. We only brought him to see how he would handle things at
the NY State Fair. Not only did he school great but we showed him in
the .85m, .95m and 1m under lights PLUS Deana rode him to fill the
USEF Jr 3'6" medal and placed 5th! This horse is only going up
from here! We love him!
What a wonderful story for the
Schenkels and what a wonderful story for Guinness! |

| UPDATE:
December 2007
Last weekend I went up to see him and
put a saddle on him. I have never put a saddle or anything else
on him. He stood there as if he had worn a saddle everyday of
his life. No problems, no fuss, no issues. I then turned
him out in the paddock with it. He trotted over to his hay and
never seemed to notice the saddle or the stirrups flapping on his
sides. He will be two at the end of March and is already standing
at nearly 15.2hh. He is still just as sweet and easy to handle.
His only problem is he has taken to jumping out of his paddock.
The owners of the barn told me he jumped through snow over a 4' fence.
They were impressed at that but stunned when he jumped back into his
paddock over the same fence! |
When I first bought my mare back in 2005 she was pregnant to Gatsby.
At the time we only had interest in the mare, but when her foal was born, a
beautiful dark bay colt, we fell in love with him. Genuine is the most
amazing colt that anyone has ever met. He
is the sweetest boy in the world and at a year of age he doesn't have a mean
bone in his body. He is just amazing to handle and when we do
something for the first time it is as if he has been doing it forever.
He has been a breeze to handle since day one and only gets easier as he gets
older. When we put him on the trailer for the first time he just
hopped on. When we trimmed his feet he just stood there. He is
truly an amazing horse, and on top of his perfect and wonderful personality
he is already 15 ++ hh at 14 months!!! And he is a wonderful
mover!!! We are just so excited to start him. We lunged him for the
first time last week. His walk is graceful and he has so much presence.
His trot is to die for. Looking at him you would think he is an
angel floating over the ground! He is breathtaking and we were
simply in awe over his stunning beauty. And last but not least when he
canters it is as if the world has gone quiet and Genuine is the center
of the world as he gracefully and effortlessly covers the ground with each
amazing floating stride! We
cannot wait to jump him as a 3 year old. He will blow everyone’s
minds in the hunter ring as much as an adult hunter as an amateur. One
day we would like to breed our mare again and when we do we hope to breed to
Gatsby once again!!
Thank you for all the joy you have given us in this foal!
We truly love him!
